South Okanagan: Wine Tasting after 5pm

OpenAir Adventures & Wine Tours, the funnest Jeep wine tours in the South Okanagan now shares a list of wineries open after 5pm?  There are many reasons for a wine tasting after 5pm.  Whether it be a long day at work or enjoying an evening with family and friends, a good wine… or a few, can always make it better!  While it may seem like it’s always wine-o’clock in the South Okanagan, most wineries do close their doors at 5pm  So what is a wine lover to do after 5pm in the South Okanagan?  Although it may take some searching, there are still many places to go to for an evening sip – after all this is Okanagan wine country! Below is a list of some of the best Penticton and Naramata Bench wineries, OK Falls wineries, and Summerland wineries that stay open after 5pm, so you can relax with a glass.

Naramata Bench Wineries

Bench 1775, open until 7pm

-Named after their address 1775 Naramata Road on Naramata Bench.  Wines are unique expressions of the fruit grown across the South Okanagan.

D’Angelo Estate Winery, open until 6pm

-A small family winery… wait a minute, they’re Italian, do they have small families?  Estate grown grapes include Miscela Tempranillo, Merlot, Viognier, Malbec and more.

Deep Roots Winery, open until 5:30pm

-This winery is situated at the high bluffs above Naramata.  Over 25 acres of prime vineyard on the Naramata Bench results in quality from vine to bottle. A must stop on your Naramata Bench wine tour.

Hillside Winery and Bistro, open until 6pm

-Quaint and charming, these wines show the passion and joy that goes into making them.

Lake Breeze Vineyards, open until 5:30pm

-Relatively small on the world wine scale; 12 acres of vines with 9 different varietals are grown, including Pinot Blanc, Semillon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.  But good things come in small packages… or bottles.

Monster Vineyards, open until 6pm

-A monstrous good time in every bottle. This Penticton winery crafts tasty wine for the curious at heart.

Poplar Grove Winery, open until 6pm

-This is one of the original five Naramata Bench Wineries, and they are still around because their wine is wonderful… just like their view.

Serendipity Winery, open until 6pm

-Food paired bordeaux wines are highlighted in this spectacular winery.

Tightrope Winery, open until 5:30pm

-Husband and wife team up to create award winning wines from their 7 acres of vines. Grapes used are grown on Naramata Bench.

Township 7 Winery, open until 7pm (July and August)

-A passionate and dedicated winery that just keeps getting better year after year. Also a must stop on your Naramata Bench wine tour.

Upper Bench Estate Winery, open until 6 pm

-This Penticton winery is at the gateway to the Naramata Bench, and perfectly pairs with their Upper Bench cheeses.

OK Falls Wineries

Crescent Hill Winery, open until 7pm

-This old vineyard shares family and heritage. All of these wines are exceptional patio sippers.

Kraze Legz Winery, open until 6pm

-There are still a few bottles of Kraze Legz brand, so if you loved it you’ll love their new brand Skaha Vineyard as well. These wines are elegant, fruit forward.  While a little out of the way, this winery is a must stop on your OK Falls wine tour.

Liquidity Winery and Bistro, open until 6pm

-This winery offers an artisan approach to winemaking and it shows in the wine.

Play Estate Winery and Bistro, open until 8pm

-14 acres of vineyard overlook Skaha Lake consisting of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat and Viognier.

Wild Goose Vineyards and Winery, open until 6pm

-Premium limited production wines that represent the Okanagan Valley terroir.  White wine fans don’t forget to stop at this winery on your OK Falls wine tour.

 

Summerland Wineries (Bottleneck Drive Wineries)

 

8th Generation Vineyard, open until 5:30pm

-It all began in 1783 when Christian Schales planted his first grapes, now 8 generations later, the Schales family are still at it. These wines honour family heritage. They sell out quick, so make sure to stop in soon on your Summerland wine tour.

Evolve Cellars, open until 5:30 pm

-Friendly and approachable wines that are a pure expression of the grapes grown.

Heaven’s Gate Estate Winery, open until 5:30 pm

-Handcrafted wine from premium-quality Okanagan Valley grapes like Gamay Noir, Gewürztraminer and Merlot and just some of the varietals.

Lunessence Winery, open until 6pm

-Maybe it’s all the music that makes the wine so good! This Bottleneck Drive winery doesn’t focus on a specific winemaking style, they just try to highlight the vineyard.  Be sure to taste here on your next Summerland wine tour.

Silkscarf Winery, open until 5:30 pm

-A family boutique winery located on the Bottleneck Drive with over 10 acres of vines.

SummerGate Winery, open until 6pm

-Estate grown organic grapes are hand harvested and gently pressed, then left to slowly ferment in small batches. The results are fresh, crisp and fruit forward wines.
